Abraxas Petroleum Corporation is an independent energy company primarily engaged in the acquisition, exploitation, development and production of oil and gas in the United States and Canada. As of December 31, 2011, the Company�� estimated net proved reserves were 29.0 million barrels of oil equivalent (MMBoe), (including reserves attributable to its 34.7% equity interest in the proved reserves of Blue Eagle), of which 53% were classified as proved developed, 54% were oil and natural gas liquids (NGL��) and 94% by PV-10 were operated. In the Eastern Shelf, its wells are principally located in Coke, Scurry, Midland, Mitchell and Nolan Counties, Texas and produce oil and gas from the Strawn Reef formation at 5,000 to 7,500 feet and oil from the shallower Clea! rfork formation at depths ranging from 2,300 to 3,300 feet. The Company�� properties in the onshore Gulf Coast region are located along the Edwards trend in DeWitt and Lavaca Counties, Texas and in the Portilla field in San Patricio County, Texas. In the Edwards trend, its wells produce gas from the Edwards formation at a depth of 14,000 feet and in the Portilla field, its wells produce oil and gas from the Frio sands and the deeper Vicksburg from depths of approximately 7,000 to 9,000 feet. In addition, the Company also owns a 34.7% equity interest in a joint venture targeting the Eagle Ford in South Texas. Its properties in the province of Alberta, Canada are located in the Pekisko fairway and the Nordegg/Tomahawk area of Central Alberta.

As of December 31, 2011, the Company leased approximately 20,835 net acres, primarily in counties located on the Nesson Anticline and in areas west, including Rough Rider and Lewis & Clark in North Dakota and in Sheridan County, Montana, which are prospective for the Bakken and Three Forks formations. During the year ended December 31, 2011, the Company drilled two operated wells and participated in an additional 19 gross (1.0 net) non-operated wells. As of December 31, 2011, the Company leased a total of approximately 20,720 gross (17,800 net) acres in the southern Powder River Basin, of which 17,800 gross (15,700 net) acres were located in the Brooks Draw field of Converse and Niobrara Counties, Wyoming. Technology Platform

The Company�� ETM technology platform allows it to analyze its clients' transportation requirements and provide customized shipping recommendations. It has also developed data acquisition tools, which retrieve information from both private and public transportation databases, including subscription-based sources and public transportation rate boards, and incorporate that information into the ETM database. Its clients communicate their transportation needs to it electronically through its EchoTrak web portal, other computer protocols, or by phone. ETM generates pricing and carrier information for its clients by accessing pre-negotiated rates with preferred carriers or using present or historical pricing and capacity information contained in its database. If a client enters its own shipment, ETM automatically alerts the appropriate account executive. After the carrier is selected, either by it or the client, its account executives use its ETM technology platform to manage all aspects of the shipping process.

The Company�� FastLane is an Internet-based Web portal, which allows its carriers! to view ! shipments available for tender, update equipment availability and preferred lanes, check on the status of all unpaid invoices, unbilled shipments, shipments in transit and other information used to resolve any billing discrepancies. There is also a mobile FastLane application, which allows carriers to view similar information remotely. eConnect is a set of tools, which allows the Company�� clients and carriers to interact directly with ETM electronically through any of several computer protocols, including EDI, extensible markup language (XML) and file transfer protocol (FTP). Through eConnect, its clients are able to request shipping services and receive financial and tracking data using their existing systems.

EchoTrak is an Internet-based Web portal, which connects and integrates its clients with ETM. By entering a username and password, its clients are able to enter orders, display historical and active shipments in the ETM system using configurable data entry screens sorted by carrier, price, delivery date, destination and other relevant specifications. EchoTrak also generates automatic alerts to ensure that shipments are moving in accordance with the client specifications and timeline. There is also a mobile EchoTrak application, which allows customers to perform similar functions remotely. RateIQ2.0 is a pricing engine, which manages LTL tariffs and generates rate quotes and transit times for LTL shipments. RateIQ2.0 also provides integrated tools to manage dispatch, communications, data collection and management functions relating to LTL shipments. LaneIQ is a pricing engine, which generates rate quotes for TL shipments. LaneIQ also provides integrated tools to manage dispatch, communications, headhaul and backhaul data col! lection a! nd management functions relating to TL shipments. EchoPak is a small parcel pricing and audit engine. For each small parcel shipped, EchoPak audits carrier compliance with on-time delivery requirements and pricing tariffs. In addition, EchoPak tracks information for each parcel and is able to aggregate and analyze that data for clients. For instance, clients are able to view shipments by date, business unit, product line and location, and clients can access information regarding service levels and pricing.

The Company�� Shipment Tracking stores shipment information en-route and after final delivery. The shipment data is acquired through its carrier EDI integration, allowing its clients to track the location and status of all shipments on one screen, regardless of mode or carrier. Final delivery information is permanently archived, allowing it to provide its clients with carrier performance reporting by comparing actual delivery times with the published transit time standards.

Document Imaging allows the Company to store digital images of all shipping documents, including bills of lading and delivery receipts. CAS (Cost Allocation System) automatically audits carrier invoices against its rating engine and accounts payable accrual system. If the amounts match, the invoice is automatically released for payment. If the amounts do not match, the invoice is sent to various administrative personnel for manual processing and resolution. CAS also integrates to its general ledger, accounts receivable and accounts payable systems. Accounting includes its general ledger, accounts receivable and accounts payable functions. Accounting is integrated with CAS and EchoIQ. EchoIQ stores internally and externally generated data to support its reporting and analytic functions and integrate all of its core applications with ETM. ETM supports its logistics services, which it provides to its clients as part of its value proposition. How Proto Labs Inc. Strives to Make Employees Happy

As Costco's Jim Sinegal once put it, "Culture is not the most important thing -- it's the only thing" -- likely because he understands the advantages of creating a work environment with high employee satisfaction. I recently had the opportunity to engage over email with Renee Conklin, Proto Labs' (NYSE: PRLB  ) vice president of human resources, about the company's culture, employee morale, how it cultivates talent, and more. Below is a transcript of our conversation, lightly edited for style.

Steve Heller: With only a handful of reviews of Proto Labs on anonymous employee review site Glassdoor, it's obviously not a representative sample size of employee morale or satisfaction. How does Proto Labs internally measure employee satisfaction? Can you provide supporting data around employee retention rates, turnover, and average tenure? How does this data compare to the industry?

Renee Conklin: Proto Labs has been voted a Top 100 Minnesota Workplace by the Minneapolis Star Tribune for the past four years (2011 through 2014). The independent survey consisted of 22 questions focused on the work environment and was completed by our employees. We've also been recognized as one of Forbes' Best Small Companies for the past two years (2013 and 2014). Forbes ranked companies on their earnings and sales growth as well as return on equity in the past 12 months and over five years.

We currently employ 700 employees in Minnesota and 73% of these employees have been hired within the past three years. Our voluntary turnover in 2014 was about 6%, and we're growing [headcount] at a rate of 25% each year.

Heller: If employees are unsatisfied, how does Proto Labs work to improve employee morale?

Conklin: Proto Labs holds monthly shift meetings where all employees participate. During the meetings, managers share important information and ask each employee, by name, for process improvement suggestions and any concerns they want to voice. It's the central idea that more minds are better than one. We respect one another's opinions, and share our successes and failures as a team to learn from them. Constant collaboration with colleagues breeds creativity and helps us refine a great idea into something tangible.

Our core values are teamwork, trust, and achievement and we make a concerted effort to hold employees accountable to these values. As a result, there's an employee appreciation for a company that places trust in its employees to do the job for which they were hired.

Heller: What is Proto Labs doing to cultivate talent? What programs does Proto Labs have in place today, or plans to put in place in the future to build its next generation of leaders? 

Conklin: Internally, we have a generous tuition reimbursement program in place for employees who want to pursue advanced education. We are also working on developing Proto Labs University -- a program designed to help new supervisors and managers learn the basic concepts of effective management and to develop skills. Proto Labs University will be a comfortable, hands-on learning environment where our experienced leaders will share best practices and give new leaders the opportunity to practice what they learn and receive immediate feedback. We are continually building and modifying training content for our sales and customer support teams to further their knowledge of our shifting services. It allows them to really bring a consultative sales role so customers ultimately use the best manufacturing process possible -- whether 3D printing, machining or molding -- for the production of their parts.

Externally, we provide a number of free injection molding design aids and an 80-page injection molding book that we published to educators and entire classrooms at the high school and collegiate level. It helps educate future product designers and engineers, who may one day work at Proto Labs, about the sometimes complicated field of injection molding. We also partner with schools on projects and team competitions as well as sponsor internships in many of the departments throughout the organization.

Lastly, we run a Cool Idea! Award program that grants thousands of dollars in manufacturing services annually to entrepreneurs with innovative product concepts.

Heller: What qualities does Proto Labs look for when promoting talent from within and hiring outside the company?

Conklin: We focus our recruiting efforts on those who have the ability and desire to learn quickly and work efficiently in a team-oriented environment. They must be adaptable to change and comfortable working in an extremely fast-paced, growing environment. We look for people who are passionate, results-oriented individuals who take accountability for their work.

Proto Labs works to bring in not only talented individuals, but also ones who are going to help create a culture where people want to remain. Of our current 50-plus job openings, many fall within STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) fields. Software engineering and manufacturing process engineers are roles that we are continually recruiting for. Heller: From a culture perspective, what's the biggest characteristic that differentiates Proto Labs from its peers?

SEOUL--South Korea's exports shrank in January from a year earlier after three months of expansion, as the Lunar New Year holidays resulted in fewer working days last month, government data showed Saturday.

    The fundamental underpinnings for SAIC's cyber-security business have been strong for quite a while, as growing cyber-security threats jeopardize key government and private-sector technology installations. With North Korean hackers having successfully shut down tens of thousands of servers in South Korea, the U.S. government has gotten serious about the threat, and SAIC won an extension in May for an eighth year serving the Pentagon on a contract that could be worth as much as $381 million. Moreover, the company is working with non-military government applications, having won a $140 million contract alongside competitor CACI International (NYSE: CACI  ) to deliver IT support to the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation. Moreover, SAIC has an advantage over CACI in that while the government agency didn't actually award CACI a definite part of the contract when it made the announcement in March, SAIC already won one of the major parts of the contract, with expectations of taking at least half of the $140 million for itself.

    One stock that's starting to trend within range of triggering a near-term breakout trade is CombiMatrix (CBMX), which operates a diagnostics reference laboratory that provides DNA-based clinical diagnostic testing services to physicians, hospitals, clinics and other laboratories in the areas of prenatal and postnatal development disorders, and hematology/oncology genomics. This stock hasn't done much over the last three months, with shares up by just 1.4%.

    If you take a look at the chart for CombiMatrix, you'll notice that this stock has been uptrending over the last few weeks, with shares moving higher from its low of $2.14 to its recent high of $2.90 a share. During that move, shares of CBMX have been making mostly higher lows and higher highs, which is bullish technical price action. That uptrend has now pushed shares of CBMX within range of triggering a near-term breakout trade.

    Traders should now look for long-biased trades in CBMX if it manages to break out above some near-term overhead resistance levels at $2.90 to $2.92 a share, and then once it clears its 200-day moving average at $2.96 to more near-term overhead resistance at $3.20 a share with high volume. Look for a sustained move or close above those levels with volume that hits near or above its three-month average volume of 823,656 shares. If that breakout triggers soon, then CBMX will set up to re-test or possibly take out its next major overhead resistance levels at $3.70 to $4.44 a share.

    Traders can look to buy CBMX off any weakness to anticipate that breakout and simply use a stop that sits right below its 50-day moving average at $2.57 a share or just below more support at $2.20 to $2.14 a share. One can also buy CBMX off strength once it starts to take out those breakout levels with volume and then simply use a stop that sits a comfortable percentage from your entry point.
